Captain America: Brave New World’ Producer Nate Moore Hints at ‘Eternals’ Comeback of Marvel: ‘They’ll Be Back’
As one of the key creative forces behind some of Marvel’s most beloved films, including ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Black Panther,’ Nate Moore has played a crucial role in shaping the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Moore delves into what ‘Brave New World’ means for Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, the immense pressure of making billion-dollar blockbusters, welcoming Hollywood legend Harrison Ford into the Marvel fold, the return of the Eternals, and much more.
‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), serves both as a standalone film and as a continuation of Sam Wilson’s journey. Wilson, first introduced in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ (2014), was portrayed as Steve Rogers’ loyal ally alongside Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. Now, a decade later, the film will see Wilson fully embrace the Captain America mantle.
Moore, who is well-versed in handling high-stakes projects, acknowledged the weight of responsibility that comes with leading massive, big-budget productions. “Films of this size can be daunting, but as long as your focus is always on the character story, you have a good, true North Star,” he shared. Moore also spoke about Anthony Mackie’s evolution as Sam Wilson and the significance of his transition into the role of Captain America. “I think he’s worthy. I think he’s earned it. And I think fans coming out of this movie are going to feel the same way I do.”
While Moore has had remarkable success with billion-dollar franchises, he has also encountered challenges, notably with ‘Eternals.’ Four years after its theatrical release, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ will be the first MCU film to address lingering questions from ‘Eternals,’ specifically the enormous celestial mass that emerged from Earth in the film’s climactic moments.
When asked whether ‘Eternals,’ directed by Chloe Zhao, would finally receive its due recognition, Moore hinted at a potential return of the powerful race of superhumans. He expressed his admiration for the film and its cast, stating, “Eternals is obviously a property I love. I love that film and all of those actors and the crew that helped us make it. We’re always looking for an opportunity to figure out how to reintroduce characters.”
Drawing a parallel to the return of Tim Blake Nelson’s character after over 15 years, Moore suggested that the Eternals might not be gone for good. “I’m not sure you’ve seen the last of the Eternals. I couldn’t tell you exactly when they’ll pop up, but certainly, we haven’t forgotten about them and we are huge fans of that film.”
Beyond revisiting the Eternals, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ also marks a major moment for the franchise as it brings in Hollywood icon Harrison Ford. Ford will portray Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a character previously played by the late William Hurt. His inclusion adds another layer of excitement to the film, alongside the return of familiar MCU faces.
Directed by Julius Onah, the film boasts a stellar ensemble cast that includes Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson. The anticipation surrounding ‘Brave New World’ continues to grow as fans eagerly await the next chapter in the Captain America saga.
Scheduled for release on February 14, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ will be available in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. With the combination of an exciting storyline, an exceptional cast, and the return of beloved MCU characters, the film is poised to make a significant impact on audiences worldwide.
