Prashanth Neel admits being ‘a little disappointed’ with Salaar box office: ‘I’ll make up for it’
Director Prashanth Neel recently addressed the box office performance of his December 2023 film Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, admitting that its reception fell short of his expectations. Despite the massive success of his previous film, KGF: Chapter 2, Neel found the response to Salaar somewhat disappointing. However, he remains optimistic about making a strong comeback with the sequel.
In an interview with Kairam Vaashi, Neel shared his reflections on the film, acknowledging the extensive effort he invested in the first installment. “I am not completely happy. I am a little disappointed with how much effort I put into the first part,” he admitted.
Discussing the upcoming sequel, Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam, Neel expressed unwavering confidence in its storyline and execution. He described the project as one of his finest works, promising that it would surpass both his and the audience’s expectations. “I’m going to make up for it more than I can imagine and more than the audience can imagine. I am very confident, and I am confident of very few things in my life — Salaar 2 will unquestionably be one of my best works,” he affirmed.
Neel also acknowledged that the monumental success of KGF: Chapter 2 might have led to some complacency during the making of Salaar. However, this experience has fueled his determination to create a sequel that raises the bar even higher.
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire starred Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Shruti Haasan in lead roles, earning over ₹615.26 crore worldwide. In contrast, KGF: Chapter 2, led by Yash, grossed more than ₹1,200 crore globally, becoming the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2022.
