“RCB Breaks IPL Record with Historic Run Chase | Full Highlights”

RCB Breaks All-Time IPL Record with Sensational and Historic Run Chase, Stuns Fans Worldwide | Watch Full Match Highlights, Key Moments, Player Reactions, and Unbelievable Finish in One of the Greatest IPL Matches Ever Played

Stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma delivered a breathtaking unbeaten 85, guiding Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a landmark victory and an IPL record that no team has ever achieved before. In their final league stage match of IPL 2025, held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, RCB pulled off an extraordinary six-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants, successfully chasing down a massive 228-run target with eight balls to spare.

The thrilling run chase wasn’t just RCB’s highest successful pursuit in IPL history — it was also the third-highest chase overall in the league, marking one of the most sensational wins ever witnessed in T20 cricket. The triumph was made sweeter by the fact that it secured RCB a perfect away record, with seven wins in seven away games during the league stage — a feat never before accomplished in the history of the IPL’s home-and-away format.

Until now, the closest any team came to such dominance on the road were Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians in 2012, both of whom had seven away wins but also suffered a defeat each. RCB’s clean sweep has now set a new benchmark for consistency and dominance in away conditions.

How the Match Unfolded

Lucknow Super Giants, led by Rishabh Pant, looked in control for much of the game after posting a colossal total of 227/3, powered by Pant’s explosive 118. The wicketkeeper-batter showcased his range, hammering boundaries across the park in what was one of the most commanding IPL innings of the season.

In response, RCB began aggressively with Virat Kohli and Phil Salt attacking from the outset during the powerplay. The duo laid a solid platform, punishing the Lucknow bowlers with well-timed shots and clever placements.

However, it was the brilliance of Jitesh Sharma, stepping up as captain in the absence of Faf du Plessis, that turned the tide. His calm under pressure and aggressive strokeplay saw him remain unbeaten on 85. Alongside him, Mayank Agarwal contributed a steady 41 not out, and the pair stitched together a match-winning partnership that propelled Bengaluru past the finish line.

Bowling Woes for Lucknow

Despite Rishabh Pant’s heroics with the bat, Lucknow’s bowling unit faltered, especially in the death overs. New Zealand pacer Will O’Rourke had a tough night, conceding 74 runs in his four overs, despite picking up two wickets. His spell now ranks as the third-most expensive in IPL history.

RCB’s victory also marked only the second time a 200+ total has been successfully chased at the Ekana Stadium. The previous instance was Sunrisers Hyderabad chasing 206 at the same venue on May 19 earlier this season.

RCB Finish Second on the Table

With this landmark win, RCB climbed to second place on the IPL 2025 points table — their best finish since 2016. They tied on 19 points with Punjab Kings, but a slightly lower net run rate (+0.30) placed them behind Shreyas Iyer’s men.

Playoff Picture

The win sets up an exciting Qualifier 1 clash between RCB and Punjab Kings on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans will lock horns with Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator on Friday, promising more drama and thrills as the playoff race heats up.

RCB’s blend of explosive batting, historic achievement, and strategic brilliance under pressure has made them the team to watch this season — and they’ve done it all while rewriting IPL history on the road.
