Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite approvals for several pending infrastructure and development projects related to Telangana. The request came during high-level interactions between the state and Central leadership, reflecting both the growing need for large-scale development support and the evolving political dynamics between the ruling Congress government in Telangana and the BJP-led Centre.
One of the major issues raised by the Chief Minister was the need for faster approvals and financial support for the Phase-II expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail. The Telangana government has been actively pushing for additional metro corridors to improve urban mobility in Hyderabad, where traffic congestion and rapid urbanization continue to create transportation challenges. According to the state government, metro expansion is essential for supporting Hyderabad’s future growth and improving public transport infrastructure.

Apart from the metro project, Revanth Reddy reportedly sought Central cooperation on multiple development initiatives including infrastructure, industrial expansion, and connectivity projects. Telangana has been positioning itself as a major investment destination, and the state government believes faster clearances from the Centre will help accelerate economic growth, generate employment, and improve public services.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of cooperative federalism and requested the Prime Minister to support Telangana’s proposals “with a big heart.” His remarks highlighted the state’s expectation that development-related projects should be handled beyond political differences. The appeal was viewed as an attempt to maintain a balance between political competition and administrative cooperation with the Central government.
Prime Minister Modi, while responding positively to development discussions, also made politically charged remarks during the interaction. His comments reflected the continuing rivalry between the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), particularly in a politically important state like Telangana where both parties are trying to expand their influence.
The exchange between the two leaders drew significant political attention because Telangana has become one of the key battleground states for national political competition. Congress currently governs the state, while BJP is aggressively attempting to strengthen its base and position itself as a major alternative force. Development projects and infrastructure approvals have therefore become intertwined with political narratives and electoral messaging.
Political analysts note that infrastructure projects often carry both governance and political significance. Large public projects such as metro rail expansion, highways, industrial corridors, and urban modernization directly affect public perception about administrative efficiency and leadership capability. By seeking faster approvals, the Telangana government is also attempting to reinforce its image as development-oriented and proactive.
At the same time, opposition parties continue to scrutinize the government’s handling of these projects. While BJP promotes Central assistance and national-level development initiatives, the ruling Congress seeks to highlight the state government’s role in driving growth and investment. Meanwhile, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has also been criticizing both Congress and BJP while defending its own development record from previous years.
Experts believe that timely approval and execution of major infrastructure projects could significantly impact Telangana’s economic trajectory. Improved urban transportation, industrial infrastructure, and connectivity are considered crucial for attracting investment and sustaining Hyderabad’s position as a leading technology and business hub.
However, delays in approvals, funding challenges, and political disagreements could affect project implementation timelines. Therefore, continued coordination between the state and Central governments will remain important for ensuring smooth execution of development initiatives.
In conclusion, Revanth Reddy’s appeal for faster clearances for Telangana projects highlights the state government’s strong focus on infrastructure-led development and economic growth. The issue also reflects the broader political competition between Congress and BJP, where governance, investment, and public projects have become central themes in Telangana’s evolving political landscape.
