‘Marco’ Box Office Day 1: Unni Mukundan’s Thriller Earns Rs 4.21 Crore!
Mollywood’s first-ever violent action film, Marco, starring Unni Mukundan, has made a sensational debut, drawing attention with its impressive box office numbers. After a highly anticipated release, the film has opened to significant success, grossing Rs 4.21 crores at the Kerala box office on its first day, as reported by Sacnilk. Additionally, Marco earned Rs 1 lakh from the Hindi markets, with the total all-India opening estimated at around Rs 5 crores.
Marco, an ‘A’ rated film, has broken the 8-year-long record for the highest day-one opening at the Kerala box office, previously held by Dulquer Salmaan’s Kammattipaadam. This achievement marks a major milestone for Mukundan, as he becomes the 6th Malayalam actor to secure a Rs 4 crore-plus opening in Kerala, joining the ranks of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Nivin Pauly, and Dulquer Salmaan.
Released on the last day, Marco exceeded expectations, with audiences praising the movie for its brutal action and intense sequences, particularly in the second half. Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the action blocks, background music, and stylish direction as key strengths of the film. A netizen commented on the first-day experience, calling it “the most brutal and violent film in Indian film history,” and expressing excitement over its box office potential.
The film is specifically targeted at an adult audience due to its graphic content, and it has been described as one of the most violent films in Mollywood and even Indian cinema. Directed by Haneef Adeni, Marco is a spin-off of Nivin Pauly’s Mikhael. With its tremendous opening and positive reviews, Unni Mukundan’s hard work and dedication have clearly paid off, setting Marco up for a successful run at the box office.
