Marco: Unni Mukundan Urges Fans to Reject Piracy After Online Leak

Unni Mukundan has created a buzz in the film industry with the blockbuster success of his recent action movie, Marco. The film has drawn comparisons to Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. Unfortunately, piracy has leaked it online across various platforms. In response, Unni Mukundan posted a heartfelt note on Instagram, urging fans to avoid pirated copies.

After the leak, Unni wrote, “Please don’t watch pirated movies. We are helpless. I’m feeling helpless. Only YOU can stop this. By not watching/downloading the films online. It’s a request.” Fans showed their support with encouraging comments. One fan remarked, “True …films have to be seen in theatres,” while another said, “Theatre experience is on a whole other level… Never miss it….”

The Kochi cyber cell recently apprehended a man for sharing a pirated version of Marco. A Mathrubhumi report revealed that the individual, a BTech student, posted a link to the film on his social media. During questioning, he denied recording the movie in cinemas but admitted sharing a link he had received. He claimed he wanted to increase his Instagram reach.

Meanwhile, Marco continues to reach new audiences. The Telugu version debuted in theatres on January 1, and the Tamil version will release on January 3. The production team is preparing for the film’s OTT debut in multiple languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Telugu. Netflix will likely stream it by late January or early February.

Since its theatrical release on December 20, Marco has grossed nearly ₹38 crore. The film’s success strengthens its position as a major hit in Mollywood.
