“The implementation of our digital payment system is not limited to the domestic front but extends internationally as well. The approval for UPI services has been granted in France, enabling Indian tourists to make online ticket purchases seamlessly. Expanding our reach, the services are now accessible in Sri Lanka and Mauritius, a development highlighted by a significant announcement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). India is at the forefront of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services, with this widely-used digital payment system finding implementation in various countries.
The green signal for UPI services in France has already been given, providing Indian tourists with the convenience of online ticket transactions. Taking a further step, that have been officially launched in Sri Lanka and Mauritius as of February 12, with the inauguration ceremony conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnath. Furthermore, the initiation of RuPay card services in Mauritius adds to the expanding landscape of our digital payment leadership.”
