Responding to inquiries following the release of the party manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi drew parallels between the current narrative and the ‘India Shining’ campaign of 2004.

- Reflecting on the past, Rahul Gandhi referenced the BJP-led NDA’s vigorous ‘India Shining’ campaign before the 2004 Lok Sabha polls, noting, “Do remember who won that campaign.”
- Despite the BJP’s aggressive efforts, they faced defeat in the polls, leading to the formation of the UPA government.
Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the INDIA bloc is involved in an ideological election battle, underscoring that the decision regarding the Prime Ministerial candidate will be made after the polls. The upcoming seven-phase Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to begin on April 19.
In its manifesto ‘Nyay Patra,’ the Congress promises apprenticeship rights, MSP legal guarantee, and a constitutional amendment to raise reservations. With a focus on five ‘pillars of justice’ and 25 guarantees, the manifesto was unveiled at the AICC headquarters with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former chief Sonia Gandhi present. Additionally, the party pledges to fill nearly 30 lakh vacancies in central government posts and ensure a 10 per cent quota for economically weaker sections in jobs and education, regardless of caste or community.
