“Keerthy Suresh was initially set to portray Ajay Devgn’s wife in ‘Maidaan,’ but she was later replaced by Priyamani.”
“Maidaan, one of the most anticipated films of the year, has its release date announced for April 10, coinciding with Eid. Starring Priyamani alongside Ajay Devgn, the film’s director, Amit Sharma, addressed the replacement of Keerthy Suresh with Priyamani during a recent media interaction.”
Here’s why Keerthi Suresh was replaced by Priyamani
“For the uninitiated, Keerthy Suresh was initially cast to portray Ajay Devgn’s wife in the film, but she was later replaced by Priyamani. In a recent interview, director Amit Sharma disclosed the reason for this change, stating, ‘I had a definite idea in my mind about the role of Abdul Rahimi’s wife and I wanted the lead role to look like that, but during that time Keerthy lost a lot of weight and due to this she was replaced.'”
Maidaan is based on the real-life incidences of Syed Abdul Rahim
“The film’s storyline offers a glimpse into the remarkable true story of the unsung hero, Syed Abdul Rahim, who devoted his life to football and brought immense pride to India. This biographical sports drama serves as a tribute to the golden era of Indian football under Coach Syed Abdul Rahim, depicting the team’s triumphs in the 1951 and 1962 Asian Games.”
