Apple is preparing to introduce its foldable gadgets in the near future. Based on a 9to5Mac article, the tech giant from Cupertino has expedited its development on foldable devices and might unveil a foldable iPhone by the end of 2026.
Apple’s Foldable Device Developments
- Supply Chain Updates: Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu reports that there is “growing clarity” around Apple’s foldable devices based on supply chain insights. Apple may begin large-scale production of its 20.3-inch foldable device in late 2025.
- Previous Reports: This isn’t the first time reports of Apple’s foldable devices have appeared online. Supply chain expert Ming-Chi Kuo previously stated that the company is working on a 20.3-inch foldable MacBook, expected to be released by 2027.
- Foldable Hybrid Concepts: Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested Apple might be exploring a dual-screen, foldable MacBook/iPad hybrid. DSCC CEO and analyst Ross Young also mentioned a potential 20-inch foldable hybrid device that could launch in 2026 or 2027.
Apple’s Foldable Device to Target Ultra-Luxury Market
In his recent report, Pu mentions that Apple’s foldable device will debut under a “new product line” catering to the “ultra-premium market.” The report indicates that Apple is considering two screen sizes for its foldable iPhone: 7.9 inches and 8.3 inches.
Simultaneously, Apple is set to host its eagerly awaited ‘Let Loose’ event on May 7, where it is expected to unveil a variety of new iPads and accessories. The event will be streamed live on Apple’s website and the Apple TV app at 10 am PT.
The new iPad Pro models are likely to be the highlight of the event. These are rumored to sport an OLED display for the first time, offering users a richer and more immersive viewing experience compared to the current Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED screens. The new iPad Pros will reportedly maintain their well-known 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes.
