During a virtual ceremony from Rajkot on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences – Mangalagiri (AIIMS – M) to the nation. The institute, constructed at a cost of nearly ₹1,620 crore, stands as a significant milestone in the healthcare infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh. The virtual inauguration showcased the commitment of the government to enhance medical facilities and services across the country.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting held on the AIIMS – M premises, Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer emphasized the institute’s role as a distinguished medical institution. AIIMS – M has been designed to nurture excellence in all aspects of health and wellness programs. Established as an Institute of National Importance under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, AIIMS – M serves a crucial purpose in correcting regional imbalances in the provision of high-quality tertiary-level healthcare.
Governor Nazeer highlighted the broader objectives of AIIMS – M, emphasizing its role in attaining self-sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education and training. The institute operates under PMSSY to address healthcare gaps in under-served areas, contributing significantly to the overall improvement of healthcare services in the nation. The dedication of AIIMS – M reflects the government’s commitment to advancing medical infrastructure and ensuring quality healthcare accessibility for all.
