Mumbai Indians have secured the services of U-19 star Kwena Maphaka as a replacement for the injured Dilshan Madushanka.
Maphaka, 17-year-old left-arm fast bowler , earned the Player of the Tournament title at the recent Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. His 21 wickets in the tournament set a new record for the most wickets taken by a pace bowler in a single edition of the U19 World Cup. He will be joining the five-time IPL champions at his base price of INR 50 lakh.
Coming from the same school U-19 star Kwena Maphaka, St. Stithians, as fellow South African Kagiso Rabada, Maphaka made it into the U-19 team at just 15 years old and has already participated in two junior World Cups. Additionally, he has represented South Africa ‘A’ and Emerging Teams.
