The upcoming iPhone SE, rumored to be named the iPhone SE 4, is expected to be Apple’s next budget-friendly option. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, while the Cupertino tech giant plans to unveil the iPhone 16 series in September, the fourth-generation iPhone SE may debut early next year.
Gurman suggests that the iPhone 16 may not offer significant enhancements for users with the latest models, but those with older versions will notice substantial improvements. He notes that a similar situation applies to current-generation iPhone SE users.
“…next year is poised to bring significant changes to the iPhone lineup. By early 2025, Apple is expected to release a new iPhone SE — the first upgrade to its budget-friendly model since 2022,” Gurman mentioned in his weekly Power On newsletter.
What to Anticipate from the Next Apple iPhone SE, Also Known as the Rumored iPhone SE 4
According to Gurman, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to debut in early 2025, featuring a significant design overhaul, resembling the iPhone 14 with a sharper OLED display that spans the entire device. Previous reports suggest that the phone may include Face ID, a notch, and a larger 6.1-inch screen, compared to the current 4.7-inch display.
Rumors also indicate that Apple plans to retain the same backplate manufacturing process for the iPhone SE 4 as it will use for the standard model in the forthcoming iPhone 16 series. In terms of features, the iPhone SE 4 might include Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI-powered capabilities announced at this year’s WWDC.
Pricing details remain uncertain, but speculation points to a sub-$500 (approximately Rs 42,000) price tag. Gurman added, “If Apple can price the new iPhone SE around $500, it could become a major hit.”
