  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, cumin, or your favorite herbs and spices


  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  3. Slice the sweet potatoes into rounds or wedges, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. You can peel them first if you prefer, but leaving the skin on adds extra nutrients and texture.
  4. In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato slices with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you like. Make sure the sweet potatoes are evenly coated.
  5. Place the sweet potato slices directly on the grill grates, making sure they’re not too crowded so they cook evenly. Close the lid and grill for about 4-6 minutes per side, or until they’re tender and have nice grill marks.
  6. Once the sweet potatoes are cooked through and lightly charred, remove them from the grill and transfer to a serving platter.
  7. Serve the grilled sweet potatoes hot as a side dish alongside your favorite grilled meats or vegetables. They’re also delicious with a dollop of sour cream or a sprinkle of fresh herbs on top.
