  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, to balance flavors)
  • ½ tsp black pepper powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
  • Spring onion greens (for garnish)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare and Fry the Prawns:

  1. In a bowl, marinate the prawns with ginger-garlic paste, soy sauce, red chili powder, and a pinch of salt. Let it rest for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Add cornflour and all-purpose flour to the marinated prawns. Mix well until evenly coated.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan or wok and fry the prawns in batches until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside on a paper towel.

Step 2: Prepare the Sauce:

  1. In a separate wok or skillet, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Stir-fry until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  3. Add onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, keeping them slightly crunchy.
  4. Add soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and black pepper. Mix well.
  5. Add the cornflour slurry (cornflour mixed with water) and simmer for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Step 3: Combine:

  1. Add the fried prawns to the sauce and toss well to coat evenly.
  2. Taste and adjust seasoning (salt, spice, sweetness) as needed.

Step 4: Serve:

  • Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
  • Enjoy as an appetizer or pair it with fried rice or noodles for a complete meal.
