In addition to his cinematic achievements, Kamal Haasan is the leader of the regional political party Makkal Needhi Maiyam, which recently celebrated its 7th anniversary.
During a recent interaction with the media on Thursday, Kamal Haasan, reflecting on his political journey, disclosed that he was among the early influencers who encouraged Vijay, another actor, to venture into politics. Addressing inquiries about his decision not to fully commit to a political career, the Ulaga Nayagan explained that financial stability is crucial for politics, prompting him to continue his career in the film industry.
Moreover, when asked about his perspective on Vijay potentially leaving the cinema to focus entirely on politics, Kamal Haasan revealed that he was one of the first to encourage Vijay to make this transition, acknowledging it as Vijay’s unique style of entering politics.
On the professional front, Kamal Haasan is currently immersed in the filming of ‘Indian 2’ alongside director Shankar. This film serves as a sequel to the 1996 Tamil classic ‘Indian’ and features a stellar cast, including Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, and Priya Bhavani Shankar. The music for the movie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and it is expected to be released in the summer of 2024. Kamal also has ‘Thug Life’ with acclaimed director Mani Ratnam in the pipeline, boasting a star-studded ensemble with Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan, Abhirami, Nasser, Gautham Karthik, Joju George, and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The film’s soundtrack is crafted by the legendary AR Rahman.
