Actor Kamal Haasan, after a remarkable hiatus of 34 years, reunites with director Mani Ratnam for the period action drama ‘Thug Life’. Initial plans included a shooting schedule in Siberia, following the first leg in Chennai. However, the Siberian shoot has been abruptly cancelled due to Kamal Haasan’s burgeoning political commitments, as reported by The Republic. With his inability to dedicate extended periods to filming, the decision was made to scrap the foreign schedule.
In light of these developments, the crew intends to proceed with shooting the portions excluding Kamal Haasan’s scenes first. Subsequently, they will capture his segments later upon his availability. The team will regroup in Tamil Nadu to continue filming the remainder of the movie.
Despite this setback, the excitement surrounding ‘Thug Life’ remains palpable. The title promo has already garnered attention, featuring Kamal Haasan as Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar, alongside a stellar ensemble cast including Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Abhirami, Nassar, Gautham Karthik, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Joju George. Notably, AR Rahman is helming the music composition for the film.
While Dulquer Salmaan was initially slated to be part of the principal cast, scheduling conflicts led to his withdrawal. Rumors suggest that actor Simbu might step in to replace him, although official announcements from the makers are yet to confirm this.
