Dilshan Madushanka has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh due to a hamstring injury, confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket on Sunday (March 17). The series is currently level at 1-1, with the final ODI scheduled for Monday in Chattogram.
The left-arm seamer sustained the injury during the second ODI after bowling 6.4 overs. “Dilshan Madushanka will not further take part in the ongoing tour as the bowler will return to start rehabilitation work after suffering an injury during the 2nd ODI,” SLC stated. “Madushanka, who left the field during the second ODI while bowling, has suffered a left hamstring injury, as confirmed by an MRI scan performed on the player.”
While the extent of his recovery time is not yet known, Madushanka may miss the initial matches of the IPL, which is scheduled to commence next week. Mumbai Indians acquired him for INR 4.6 Cr in the auction following his impressive performances in the ODI World Cup last year, where he claimed 21 wickets in 9 matches.
