By Ludhiana Court Issues Arrest Warrant Against Sonu Sood for Missing Testimony in Fraud Case: Report
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, widely known for his philanthropic work and humble nature, has found himself entangled in a legal controversy. The actor, who frequently makes headlines for his humanitarian efforts, is now in the spotlight for an entirely different reason. Reports indicate that a judicial magistrate in Ludhiana has issued an arrest warrant against him after he allegedly failed to appear in court to testify in a fraud case.
The arrest warrant was issued by Judicial Magistrate Ramanpreet Kaur and directed to Mumbai’s Oshiwara Police Station, located in Andheri West. The court order instructs the authorities to detain Sonu Sood and ensure his presence in court. The warrant states that the actor had been duly served with summons and other legal notices but deliberately avoided attending the hearings.
An excerpt from the India Today report quoting the magistrate’s order reads:
“Sonu Sood has been duly served with summon(s) or warrant(s) but has failed to attend (absconds and keeps out of the way for the purpose of avoiding service of a summon(s) or warrant(s)). You are hereby ordered to arrest and bring the said Sonu Sood before the Court.”
Furthermore, the warrant specifies a deadline for execution, stating that the police must submit a report by February 10, 2025, explaining the manner in which it was carried out or providing reasons in case of non-execution.
The legal matter in question was brought to the court by Ludhiana-based lawyer Rajesh Khanna. According to reports, Khanna filed a case stating that he was allegedly deceived by an individual named Mohit Shukla, who defrauded him of Rs 10 lakh. The fraud reportedly involved an investment in a fake cryptocurrency called Rijika coin.
As per the allegations, Sonu Sood was expected to testify in this case but failed to do so, leading the court to take strict action. His repeated absence from the hearings prompted the magistrate to authorize an arrest warrant.
The next hearing for this case has been scheduled for February 10, and it remains to be seen how the actor will respond to this legal predicament.
Despite this controversy, Sonu Sood has been widely appreciated for his charitable activities, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was instrumental in helping thousands of migrant workers return to their hometowns, arranging transport and financial aid. His contributions earned him nationwide recognition, with many people hailing him as a “real-life hero.”
However, this recent legal setback has cast a shadow over his otherwise positive public image. It is unclear whether Sonu Sood will address the issue publicly or take legal steps to counter the allegations against him.
