Suchitra Krishnamoorthi on Ram Gopal Varma’s Reaction

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi Reveals She Joked About Marrying Ram Gopal Varma: ‘He Got Scared by My… ‘

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, actress and ex-wife of filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, once shared a humorous yet bizarre incident involving director Ram Gopal Varma. In her autobiography, Drama Queen, she revealed that a lighthearted joke about marrying Varma unexpectedly turned into an amusingly awkward situation.

The story began when Suchitra jokingly texted Ram Gopal Varma, asking, “Will you marry me?” Unaware of the humor, Varma panicked and immediately called her to his office. Attempting to dissuade her, he tried to convince her against the idea of marriage. In her book, Suchitra described how Varma seemed genuinely frightened by her joke, despite her clarifying that she was only kidding. His reaction, however, made the incident even funnier.

During the conversation, Varma candidly admitted that he did not value women for their intellect but only for physical reasons. He also insisted that he was a terrible match for her and emphasized that she deserved better. Reflecting on the incident, Suchitra found his reaction amusing, especially since her proposal was never meant to be taken seriously. Despite the awkwardness, it became a memorable anecdote she felt compelled to share.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has worked with Ram Gopal Varma on projects like My Wife’s Murder and Rann, and the two share a professional rapport. However, her personal life has often made headlines, especially regarding her tumultuous marriage with Shekhar Kapur. The couple was married from 1999 to 2007, but their relationship ended on a bitter note. Suchitra accused Kapur of infidelity, claiming that he had been unfaithful during their marriage. Reports suggest she wrote a poem about a “maneater” who stole her husband, which she later confirmed was about actress Preity Zinta.

In the aftermath of their split, Suchitra publicly addressed her grievances, including her strained dynamic with Zinta. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Suchitra revealed that Preity Zinta once remarked that she was the “number one actress,” while Suchitra was merely a homemaker. Zinta even suggested that Suchitra should seek psychiatric help. However, Suchitra maintained her composure and chose not to take offense at the comments. She expressed pride in her role as a full-time mother, having dedicated 20 years to raising her daughter.

Despite the controversies and personal setbacks, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has always stood her ground, often addressing issues with humor and resilience. Her autobiography offers a candid look at her life, filled with both struggles and amusing anecdotes, making it an engaging read for fans and readers alike.
