Vedaa Struggles at Box Office Despite Independence Day Release

Vedaa Falls Below ₹1 Crore Mark in First Week of Release

Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari, released on August 15th, aiming to capitalize on the extended five-day weekend. Despite the strategic release, the film has struggled at the box office from day one. The action-packed movie faced stiff competition from Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2, which overshadowed Vedaa’s performance. Additionally, the film failed to resonate with audiences, further hampering its success.

Vedaa opened with a promising start, earning ₹6.3 crore on Independence Day. However, the momentum quickly waned. The film’s collections dropped sharply to ₹1.8 crore on Friday. While there was a slight uptick over the weekend, with earnings of ₹2.7 crore on Saturday and ₹3.2 crore on Sunday, it was not enough to revive its prospects. Monday, a partial holiday due to Raksha Bandhan, brought in just ₹1.5 crore. By Tuesday, the film had crashed to a mere ₹60 lakh, bringing its total collection to ₹16.1 crore, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.

This underwhelming performance adds to a string of recent box office disappointments for John Abraham, including Satyameva Jayate 2, Attack, Ek Villain Returns, and Mumbai Saga. His next release is Tehran, where he will star alongside Manushi Chhillar. Additionally, John is expected to join the cast of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 5, featuring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, and Boman Irani.

Meanwhile, Sharvari, who plays the titular role in Vedaa, is currently working on her next project, Alpha, alongside Alia Bhatt. The film is set to feature a cameo by Hrithik Roshan, expanding the YRF Spy Universe.
