Apple has issued a patch for a flaw in iOS 17.5 that caused removed photos to reappear in the Photos library. The tech giant is deploying the iOS 17.5.1 update to address the problem.

Earlier this month, numerous Apple users reported encountering old deleted photos reappearing after installing iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5. However, this issue did not impact all iPhone and iPad users. Nonetheless, Apple has now rolled out a remedy for this with the iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1 updates.

“This update delivers crucial bug fixes and resolves a rare issue where photos affected by database corruption could reappear in the Photos library even after being deleted,” Apple states in the release notes.

Here’s how to install the update:
Apple iPhone and iPad users can install the latest iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1 updates by following these steps:

  1. Open Settings on your device.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Then, tap on Software Update.
  4. If the update is available for your iPhone/iPad, it will appear here.
  5. Tap on Download and Install to proceed with the update.
