Media Reports: 17 Indians Aboard Cargo Ship Seized by Iran
According to sources, media reports have conveyed that Iran has taken control of the cargo ship ‘MSC Aries’, with 17 Indian nationals onboard. Diplomatic channels between Tehran and Delhi are being utilized to ensure the safety, well-being, and prompt release of these individuals.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards seized the Israeli-linked cargo ship, the Portuguese-flagged MSC Aries, days after Tehran’s warning of potential closure of the crucial shipping route and retaliation for an Israeli strike on its Syria consulate. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported that a Guards helicopter had boarded the vessel, taking it into Iranian waters.
Confirming Iran’s seizure of the ship, MSC, the operator of the Aries, stated that it is collaborating “with the relevant authorities” to ensure the safe return of the vessel and the well-being of its 25 crew members.
