In the latest updates on the farmers’ protest, over 200 unions have decided to resume their “Dilli Chalo” march today, rejecting the proposals put forth by the Centre during talks in Chandigarh. Despite the government suggesting the purchase of oilseeds, pulses, maize, and cotton at MSPs for the next five years, and offering assistance in diversifying farming, the farm unions remain steadfast in their opposition.

Responding to the situation, the Punjab and Haryana high court has directed the Punjab government to prevent large gatherings of farmers. The recent round of talks between the government and farmers concluded on Sunday, with the proposal to buy various crops at MSP for the next five years being officially rejected by the farm leaders. According to Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the leader of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), this offer is not deemed beneficial for the farmers.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Jimmy Chiram has confirmed a substantial deployment of police and paramilitary personnel at the Delhi-Haryana border. Delhi Police is fully prepared to block the entry of farmers into the city, and security personnel have been instructed to enforce strict measures, including road closures. Anticipating traffic congestion at the national capital’s three border points on Wednesday, officials have conducted mock security drills during the day.
