Farmers stage ‘Rail roko’ protest in Punjab

In Punjab, farmers are currently staging a ‘Rail roko’ protest, leading to live updates on the farmers’ ongoing demonstration.


Scheduled for Thursday evening, a meeting between farmer leaders and Union ministers, including Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal, and Nityanand Rai, is set to take place, as stated by Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the leader of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political). Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, ahead of a scheduled meeting with a panel from the Centre on Thursday, emphasized the need for the Prime Minister to engage with the three Union ministers. Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Arjun Munda, Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai are set to meet farmer leaders at 5 pm to discuss various demands, including the implementation of a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. At the Shambhu border, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary Pandher, addressing the media, stressed the importance of accepting the protesting farmers’ demands.
