Scuba divers promote civic engagement underwater in a viral voter awareness campaign.

In a novel bid to boost voter awareness, six scuba divers in Chennai’s Neelankarai area dove sixty feet underwater, brandishing a mock EVM machine and placards from the Election Commission of India (ECI) with messages like “I know the power of my vote” and “My country, my vote”. This underwater voting simulation aimed to underscore the significance of exercising one’s democratic right and duty to vote.

Determined to amplify voter awareness, a group of six scuba divers from Chennai’s Neelankarai area embarked on a unique mission. Venturing sixty feet underwater, they carried a mock Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and hoisted placards provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI). These placards bore empowering messages such as “I know the power of my vote” and “My country, my vote”. Through this innovative underwater spectacle, the divers sought to drive home the crucial message of civic responsibility and the paramount importance of actively participating in the democratic process by casting one’s vote.
