The Haryana government has decided to prolong the suspension of internet services in seven districts until February 23.

In response to the ongoing standoff with farmers, the Haryana government has extended the ban on mobile internet and bulk SMS services in seven districts until February 23. The initial suspension, set to end on February 19, has now been prolonged. The Haryana administration, through a notification, outlined that services such as bulk SMS and dongle services on mobile networks, excluding voice calls, will remain suspended in Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa. The decision aims to curb the spread of misinformation and rumors on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter, which could potentially lead to the mobilization of agitators and demonstrators, resulting in harm to life and property. The extension of the order is justified by the state administration as a measure to maintain peace and public order in these seven districts, effective until February 23.
